Admissions to the B.A.M.S programme are conducted in a transparent, merit-based, and fully regulated manner, strictly in accordance with Government of India, Government of Tamil Nadu, NCISM, and University norms.


Admission Overview

Government Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital admits students to the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M.S / Ayurvedacharya) programme through a centralized counselling process. Admissions are based on NEET merit, reservation policies, and eligibility conditions prescribed by competent authorities. The college does not collect any capitation fee or donation.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission must fulfill the following criteria as prescribed by statutory authorities:

  • Must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination
  • Subjects required: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  • Must have studied English as a compulsory subject
  • Must meet the minimum qualifying marks as notified by Government / Regulatory Authority
  • Must satisfy age criteria as prescribed for the relevant academic year

Eligibility conditions are subject to revision as per government notifications issued from time to time.


NEET Requirement

  • Qualifying NEET (UG) is mandatory for admission to the B.A.M.S programme
  • Admission is strictly based on NEET score and rank
  • Only NEET-qualified candidates are eligible to participate in counselling

NEET is conducted at the national level and serves as the single entrance examination for undergraduate medical admissions.


Selection Committee Details

Admissions are carried out through centralized counselling conducted by the Selection Committee – Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The Selection Committee is responsible for:

  • Publishing admission notifications
  • Conducting online/offline counselling
  • Allotting seats based on NEET merit, category, and preferences
  • Issuing allotment orders

The college has no direct role in seat allotment.


Admission Procedure

  1. Candidate qualifies NEET (UG)
  2. Application submitted to the Selection Committee – Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy
  3. Participation in centralized counselling as per notified schedule
  4. Seat allotment based on merit, category, and availability
  5. Reporting to the college with allotment order and original documents
  6. Medical fitness verification and certificate validation
  7. Completion of admission formalities
