Department of Shalya Tantra The Department of Shalya Tantra deals with the surgical branch of Ayurveda, focusing on the management of diseases that require operative and para-surgical interventions. It is rooted in the teachings of Sushruta, the father of surgery, and emphasizes classical surgical principles along with their application in Ayurvedic clinical practice. Specialized treatment is provided for Arsha (piles), Bhagandara (fistula-in-ano), Nadivrana (pilonidal sinus), and other ano-rectal disorders using Kshara Karma and Kshara Sutra therapy. Conditions such as Kadara (corn foot), Vatakantaka (heel pain), Charmakeela (warts and skin tags), Avabahuka (frozen shoulder), Katigraha(IVDP and back pain)and Tennis Elbow are treated through Agnikarma and Marma Chikitsa. The department also provides treatment for diabetic ulcers, chronic non-healing ulcers and peripheral vascular disorders. Jaloukavacharana (leech therapy) is performed for certain skin diseases and non-healing ulcers. In addition, treatment is undertaken for Gastrointestinal disorders, Bhagna (fractures), Siragranthi (varicose veins), and Mutra Ashmari (urinary calculi). The department has well-established facilities including its own OPD, IPD, Minor Operation Theatre (Sastra Karma, Kshara Karma, Kshara Sutra, Agnikarma, and Raktamokshana units), and a Major Operation Theatre.
