About the Department

The Department of Shalakya Tantra deals with the diseases of organs located above the neck (Jatru-urdhva), specifically the eyes, ears, nose, throat, and head. Rooted in the teachings of Acharya Sushruta and others, this department emphasizes both medicinal and surgical interventions for sensory organ health.

Shalya Tantra covers the management of abscesses, wounds, piles, fistula, fissure, cysts, tumors, fractures, and traumatic injuries, along with para-surgical procedures such as Kshara Karma and Agni Karma.

The department trains students in surgical ethics, patient safety, and procedural precision.
